Benefits of an International School for Your Child
International school benefits: an English-language curriculum, process-based assessment and room for each child's needs. Includes a Jakarta school list.
Every parent choosing a school for their child wants the best one. Some of them consider an international school. Why an international school? Many parents believe international schools are the best, highest-achieving schools compared with the rest. By enrolling their child in one, parents hope their child will find it easy to compete globally as an adult. Here are some of the advantages of international schools.
A different curriculum
Local schools follow the national curriculum, while international schools choose to teach with an international curriculum. As a result, all lessons are taught in English. Many parents think that an international curriculum will benefit their child.
More focus on the process
International schools care more about how a child absorbs the material. As a result, assessment is mostly a portfolio of the child's work rather than just a numerical grade. These schools also accommodate the different needs of each individual. Most national schools today, by contrast, still put the emphasis on the end result, a score or grade. In education, though, what matters most is the process, not the result the child ends up with.
Each child's needs are accommodated
Most international schools can accommodate the needs of each child. Some curricula even give children the freedom to choose the learning activities they want, so each child can learn at his or her own level. International schools generally give children more freedom than ordinary schools, which gives them more chances to express themselves. That wraps up our look at international schools.
